Belfast Evening Ladies League (BELL)

Match Regulations 2025

  1. Matches to be played on a friendly basis between clubs in the greater Belfast area.
  2. The current World Bowls ‘Laws of the Sport of Bowls’ shall apply.
  3. All clubs entering should be affiliated to NIWPGL or NIWBA
  4. Priority to be given to lady bowlers who work during the day, students, inexperienced players or those, who for whatever reason are unable to play in the afternoon.
  5. Matches will be played between two teams of 4 players.
  6. A club may enter more than 1 team- to be identified as Team 1 -Team 2 etc.
  7. Substitutes from within the same club can play to cover sickness, holidays etc.
  8. Entry fee will be £10 per team per year.
  9. Matches to be played on Monday evenings commencing at 6.30pm for 15 ends. No trial ends required – one shot only to be scored on first two ends
  10. 3 points for a win – 2 points for a draw – 1 point if lose by 5 shots or less.
  11. In the event of inclement weather it may be agreed before commencement to reduce the match to 12 ends.
  12. As soon as possible after the match both teams should photograph their score card and send it to the Belfast League Whatsapp group.
  13. Matches to be played on a home and away basis as published in the fixtures list. In the event of unavailability of a rink at the home ground on the scheduled date the match may be switched to the away team ground if available OR the match can be re-arranged to a date and time suitable to both teams.
  14. The dress Code is Club/ white tops and Grey or Club coloured trousers.
