The battle for the 2026 NIWPGL Senior League title is shaping up to be a fascinating one as we head into the summer break βοΈπ₯
Ewarts bowling club are still the team to catch as they sit at the top of the table with an impressive 9 wins from 9. With a game in hand their next two fixtures see them take on the teams currently sitting second and third. Those matches could prove pivotal in deciding where this year's league title ends up..
NICS Bowling Club continue their bid to retain the championship, sitting 3.5 points behind the leaders in second place. Having won their last four matches they are building momentum at exactly the right time. Their eagerly anticipated clash with Ewarts after the summer break could be one of the defining matches of the season.
Larne Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club occupy third place on 36.5 points and remain firmly in the title race. They also have a game in hand and still have to face both Ewarts and NICS, meaning they have a fantastic opportunity to close the gap and throw themselves right into the championship battle.
The battle for the remaining places is equally intriguing. Ulster Transport Bowling Club, Falls Bowling Club, and CI Knock Bowling Club are separated by just 3.5 points, meaning every match after the break could have a significant impact on the final standings.
Meanwhile, Pickie Bowling Club will be looking to build on recent performances and climb the table, while Mossley Outdoor Bowling Club continue to battle hard and will be determined to finish the season on a positive note.
With crucial fixtures still to come, plenty of pride on the line and every point becoming more valuable.... we are set for an exciting finish to the 2026 NIWPGL Senior League season!

The race for the Division 1 title is really beginning to heat up as much as the current weather in Northern Ireland π₯
Ulster Transport Bowling Club J1 continue to lead the way after an excellent run of results. Victories over Falls J1 and CI Knock J1, along with a hard-earned draw away to Ballywalter have seen them open up a narrow advantage at the top of the table.
Belfast remain firmly in contention despite suffering two defeats in their last three outings. They still have a game in hand and with a huge top-of-the-table clash against Ulster Transport J1 on 30th July, that fixture could prove decisive in determining where the championship ends up.
The battle for the top four is just as competitive. Ballywalter Bowling and Rec Club, Falls Bowling Club J1, and Larne Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club J1 are separated by just three points, with every match becoming increasingly important as they look to finish the season strongly.
Hilden Bowling Club could yet be the surprise package. Sitting in sixth place, they have four games in hand. With a possible 20 points still available, Hilden have every chance of launching a late charge towards the top of the table.
Downpatrick Bowling Club and Mageradroll remain locked in the midfield battle and will both be aiming to finish the campaign on a high with a strong run of results.
At the bottom Comber Bowling Club and CI Knock Bowling Club will be looking to make the most of their outstanding fixtures as they fight to climb the table and avoid relegation to Division 2.

The race for promotion is gathering momentum with every point becoming more valuable as we hit the summer breakπ₯
Malone Bowling Club continue to lead the way on 39 points, despite suffering their first defeat of the season in the last round. It has been an outstanding campaign so far and while they still hold a healthy lead at the top, there's plenty of bowls left to be played.
Shaftesbury Bowls Club Belfast remain their nearest challengers on 34.5 points. After a difficult spell that saw them record a loss and a draw, they bounced back with an important victory in the latest round. With just five points separating the top two they'll be determined to keep the pressure on in the race for promotion.
Ards Bowling Club occupy third place on 29.5 points. Although recent results haven't quite gone their way, they'll be looking to rediscover their early-season form and strengthen their promotion challenge.
Saintfield Bowling Club sit comfortably in fourth, while Pickie J1, Belmont Bowling Club Official and Cavehill all have games in hand and every opportunity to climb the table with a strong finish to the campaign. A special mention goes to Cavehill, who have turned their season around impressively. After losing their opening five matches, they've responded brilliantly with three consecutive victories and will be hoping to continue that momentum after the break.
At the lower end of the standings, Ulster Transport Bowling Club 2 and Falls Bowling Club J2 will be aiming to turn performances into points as they look to finish the season on a positive note.
With promotion still up for grabs, games in hand across the division and plenty of crucial fixtures still to come.... we're set for an exciting conclusion to the 2026 NIWPGL Junior League Division 2 season π₯
